mixed media on canvas, 3 x 3 feet
Here is my most recent painting. I like painting on wood panels, so I tried just tacking a canvas to the wall, to have that hard, flat backing. That way, I could still be rough with it and not get line marks from stretcher bars. This piece is inspired by a small 8×8 inch study I did a few months ago. It’s acrylic, collage, and oil crayon. I used the pallete knife a lot. I’m in love with the texture it creates on top of the collage…and the oil crayon on top of that. (see details below.) The colors aren’t quite right in these photos, but it’s close enough. Boy, painting big is really fun…

I heart it!
I bet this is amazing in person with the size… can we see a pic of you standing next to it? :) Pretty please?!

Hey Jenny, it’s Sarah from Academy (I had Pinocchio looking at his hand as my composition). I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved your visit to the academy and it truly made my experience. I look forward to seeing more of your work and just love what you’re doing. It has definitely inspired me to break free of my self-imposed limitations on my work and has opened me up to exploring so much more. Thanks again for visiting and your amazing insight, demo, and friendship!

hey everyone, thanks for your comments. i’m getting this piece (and another one i just finished) photographed on monday so hopefully it will give you a better look. i’m really loving working on unstretched canvas. it’s so different and i feel a lot bolder. i just wish i had more time for this show, but i think that is always the case.
thanks for checking in! and Penelope–i’m a bit camera shy but i’ll post pics from the show in august (and maybe i’ll pop into one of those pics…)
